About Highland Winds: My business is multifaceted. I provide sustainable planning concepts and solutions, and research assistance on sustainable projects. I also offer fine art prints and organic pottery. My son Jason Kainz works as a photographer for the business, my son Zack Kainz is a sculptor. His work is also offered through the business.

A small, local business selling Fine Photography, Art, Herbs and Writings. Highland Winds has Art Shows periodically, to show the Giclees (archival limited edition prints) of Jason Kainz and Peggy Miller. Highland Winds sells herbal products that it produces locally. They are homemade, and handpacked, and are carried by Good Foods Store on 3rd Street in Missoula. One is called Linseed Salve, the other is Arthritis Oil.

Highland Winds sells writings, including plays and novels of Peggy Miller, owner of Highland Winds, who presents her writing in the area.

Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services: My planning and research work focuses on assisting others with ideas, concepts, and research that provides sustainable approaches to community resource management issues. For example I have helped various towns with water supply management by conducting aquifer studies, and working on alternative development, zoning, and utilization methods. I have analyzed local recycling methods and encouraged political solutions to foster business developement of alternative uses of waste, including pellet production and utilization.

The photography, art, and pottery side of my business contributes to an overall concept of sustainability by providing locally produced products using local materials wherever possible, and local businesses. For example, right now I am looking for a local carpenter to fashion frames for my prints, and hope to have frames be made from either local wood, or local recycled materials. My pottery glazes are safe, using no toxic materials.
