About Kent Watson & Associates: Founded in 1980, Kent Watson & Associates is an award-winning landscape architecture firm with particular expertise in the planning and design of medium and large-scale landscapes, from small subdivisions and commercial facilities to large parks and open spaces, encompassing thousands of acres.
Our goal is to provide the client with personal experienced planning and design leadership throughout the entire project development process. By analyzing the various regulatory, environmental, physical and economic constraints early-on modifications can be made as appropriate so that the result is an environmentally-sound and sustainable project which is an asset to the community and the client. This requires a complete understanding of the proposed project, its physical and social context and the community, which it will ultimately affect. We are, therefore, prepared to provide and/or to facilitate the appropriate services throughout the entire planning and design process. Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services: Land and Water Planning & Design; Related Regulatory Processing; Mitigation Planning & Design; Stream & Wetland Restoration; Planning & Design of Sustainable Systems; Organizing and Facilitating Public Meetings; Report Research & Preparation; and Environmental Mediation and Problem-solving.
The background of the office is based upon the extensive experience of Montana native Kent Watson, FASLA. As a landscape architect, he is a creative problem-solver, a generalist with the background and knowledge in planning, design and natural systems to address particular project needs within their total context. With his extensive network of contacts, he can assemble, lead and/or coordinate the experts needed to solve particular land-planning problems.
My sustainable business practices: Throughout my 30-plus years of professional practice my guiding philosophy has always been one of designing with Nature, and making sure that any project I undertake lies lightly on the land. Therefore, if I can be part of a project in its early stages I can work with the other design team members to positively guide that project towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly solution. Design solutions include minimizing site excavations, restoring and enhancing riparian resources, providing improved habitats for native flora and fauna, and specifying native or native-like plant materials that require only minimal irrigation or maintenance.
