About Organic Sprouts Kitchen:
Our mission is to provide children with nutrient rich meals by supporting local food producers and maintaining sustainable business practices. In November 2008, we started delivering organic hot lunches to Spirit At Play preschool every Monday for children and teachers to enjoy as a meal option. We slowly expanded to cooking five days a week and delivering to 5 different schools here in Missoula. We expanded our services as well and have catered parties and events in addition to delivering to workplaces for adults to enjoy for lunch. All of our food is homemade and fresh using local and organic indgredients.

Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services:
We continue to research local food sources and harvesting seasons to modify our menu each month to eat as seasonally local as possible. We make homemade cooking stocks from food we do not directly use in our meals. We purchase in bulk to minimize packaging. Our hot lunches are delivered in compostable/biodegradable, tree-free containers made out of sugar cane fiber. The sliced fresh fruit is delivered in resuable tupperware containers which we pick up and sanitize after every delivery eliminating the use of plastic bags. We ask parents to provide silverware for their children which can be brought home after meals to be washed as opposed to supplying disposable eating utensils. Our lists of daily meal recipients at each school are printed on the back of scrap paper. We wash, sanitize, and reuse plastic ziplock bags for food storage. We refill our ink cartridges in our printers. We are members and volunteer at the Missoula Community Co-op once a week. We are committed to recycling whatever we can.
