Selvedge Studio is a contemporary fabric shop on the Hip Strip, in downtown Missoula. We help people achieve their sewing aspirations through classes for beginners, high quality and fun fabrics, notions, books, advice, and customer service. Selvedge helps an innovative (and sustainability minded) generation of sewers and crafters find their creative side. Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services:
Selvedge is able to close the loop of the manufacturing processes by providing the material to customers who want to do it themselves, eliminating the practices of clothing and home décor manufacturers. By providing fabric to local crafters we are able to help the sale of local crafts and arts to local consumers. We are constantly innovation new ways to use every last scrap of material (and education others about how to do the same). As well as recycling old fibers into new projects. We use local financial institutions for our business accounts and credit needs Our location allows us, as business owners, to walk and ride our bikes. And allows our employees and customers to use alternative forms of transportation on their way to the store (and they do!). Our neighborhood, the Hip Strip, is committed to an open dialog, networking, and community events that bring together residents and businesses, and encourages a sustainable life style. The Hip Strip provides a “one-stop-shopping” experience that makes it convenient to shop locally. As a neighborhood we have shared bins where we recycle as much as possible with Missoula Valley Recycling .
