About The Green Light:
The Green Light is Missoula's only healthy living and eco-department store.
Once you enter our store, you'll see that being a conscientious shopper is easy and you don't have to give up style. We feel that our products are reasonably priced, fashionable, healthy for you, and less exhausting to the planet. We carry a wide selection of products made from recycled, sustainable and organic materials and ingredients.
Our department store consists of apparel, footwear, bags, belts, undergarments, hats, jewelry, candles, skincare, body & hair care, mineral make-up, bed & bath linens, artwork, cookware, recycled glassware, low-flow accessories, notebooks & journals, greeting cards, books, magazines, dehydrators, and gardening supplies. We can even special order organic mattresses & all-natural area rugs for you!

Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services:
How are we green?
1) Tenant Improvements:
a.We used low odor, no VOC (volatile organic compounds) primer and paint.
b.Cork Flooring – cork is a renewable resource, only the bark is peeled from the tree and re-generates within 8-10 years (life of a cork tree is 150-200 years). It is also water resistant, hypoallergenic, anti-static, soft on the feet, a sound suppressor, and a natural insulator.
c.We recycled every bit cardboard, paper, plastic, scrap metal, wood, and aluminum that we could.
d.We used the old 'Paul's Second Hand Store' sign as "wallpaper".
e. We installed energy efficient lighting including compact fluorescent bulbs in our spot lights. We use LED lights in our stoplight inside and our sign outside. f.Low-flow toilet in our bathroom
2) Store Set Up/Misc.
a.Approximately 85% of our fixtures are re-used, recycled or locally made.
b.All of our mannequins are re-used.
c.Our cash wrap counter is made from salvaged barn wood and left over pieces from our cork flooring.
d.We spiffed up old "Paul's Second Hand Store" fixtures with left over pieces of slate and cork
e.All of our baseboards are made from salvaged barn wood.
f.The fabric used in our store is re-used or recycled.
g.Our merchandising accessories (ex: baskets, bowls, etc) are re-used or all-natural (ex: dried lentils).
h.Our paper is made from recycled paper: toilet paper, paper towels, printer paper, notebook paper, post-its, file folders, cardboard binders.
i.Our pens are made from recycled plastic, as are our scissors, coffee cups, and cold beverage cups.
j.Our merchandise bags are made from 95% post-consumer paper and 5% post industrial waste. The labels are made from 100% recycled paper and soy-based inks.
k.Our business cards are made from 100% recycled paper and soy-based inks.
l.Our gift boxes are made from 77% post-consumer fiber and 23% pre-consumer fiber recycled paper. m.We re-use our packing materials. Our tissue paper is made from 100% recycled paper.
n.We bag and give our packing popcorn to UPS to re-use.
o.We re-use or recycle all of our office paper, cardboard, old magazines, cans, and plastic.
p.We use eco-friendly cleaning products.
q.Our espresso cart will feature only organic syrups, coffee & condiments.
r.We compost our coffee grounds and cups.
s.The owners and their employee carpool or ride their bicycles to work.
t.In the future, we'd like to offer preventative health benefits to our employee such as acupuncture, massage, chiropractic work, and yoga.
3) Products
a.Our products are made from all-natural, organic, recycled, re-claimed, or sustainable materials and ingredients.
b.We promote healthy living and Fair Trade products.
c.We purchase locally when possible.
d.In the near future, we'd like to offer educational classes on healthy and green living.
e.We support and work with local artisans, craftspeople, businesses, and organizations.
