About Zoo City Custom Apparel: Zoo City Custom Apparel is a custom screen printing shop specializing in U.S. -made apparel. We have our own line of clothing, build custom lines of clothing for other retailers and print custom wholesale orders of all types. Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services: We start with blank apparel made in the U.S.A. and sourced as close to Missoula as possible. All of our suppliers offer options for organic cotton and we make these and all our sweat-shop free blanks as afforable to our customers as overseas goods by offering them at the lowest price we can- we don't markup these blanks for profit. One of our suppliers even grows their cotton on an organic Texas cotton farm. Our inks are made in Seattle and are phthalate-free. Phthalates are only recently receiving the attention here in the states that they have received for years in Europe as a dangerous carcinogen. Our clean-up chemicals are from the heartland, soy-based, biodegradable and drain-safe. Even our equipment is U.S. -made, much of it resurrected from reclaimed industrial materials. We are also bicycle-powered, using large courier bags and a 300lb. capacity cargo trailer to move all of our goods and equipment in Missoula. As the company grows to include employees, we plan on becoming a worker-oriented collective where each member's wages are based on the income of the company, not on arbitrary figures like the minimum wage. Our shop fixtures are mostly reclaimed building material and every electrical/gas fixture is evaluated and chosen based on the lowest possible use of watts per hour. Starting in May, Zoo City's new website will feature a CommuniTs line where a large percentage of a shirt's sale price will be donated to various community-oriented non-profits. It will also feature local artists' designs and provide a conduit for sending artists in our community more work to support themselves.
